Against Equality: Queer Challenges to the Politics of Inclusion

Against Equality is an online archive, publishing, and arts collective focused on critiquing mainstream gay and lesbian politics. As queer thinkers, writers and artists, we are committed to dislodging the centrality of equality rhetoric and challenging the demand for inclusion in the institution of marriage, the US military, and the prison industrial complex via hate crimes legislation.
We want to reinvigorate the queer political imagination with fantastic possibility.

Dear friends and supporters,
As some of you know, I'm part of a collective that has, over the last few months, been putting together a new website, www.againstequality.org. The site is being officially launched today. The against equality facebook group is an extension of the online archive and publishing collective website. In the coming months we will be announcing a book project focused on queer/trans witting and visual culture critiquing gay marriage and will begin printing postcards from our call for art.
In the meantime, please help us get more people to the website to check out the archives and the call for art. Take a look at the website's archives, which will be expanding in the coming months and, if you're on Facebook, join the group there. As of today, a number of us on the core collective with be changing our fb profile pic to the against equality logo for a few days and posting the call for art to our newfeeds. Please join us in the temporary profile picture change - even if for a few hours, a day, or longer (mine will be changed for the workweek).
